Mawlana Sheikh Mehmed Adil. Translations.

فَاعْتَبِرُوا يَا أُولِي الْأَبْصَارِ (59:2) Allah the Almighty commands: "So take warning, O people of insight." (59:2) Life in this world exists so that we may draw lessons every moment. Everything has wisdom, a divine manifestation. People who can see recognize this, draw lessons from it, and benefit from it. Those who cannot see know nothing. They come ignorant and leave ignorant. They can neither benefit from anything nor gain any advantage. A person who draws lessons benefits from everything. Drawing lessons is a command from Allah the Almighty. Allah the Almighty did not create worldly life for us to live and perish like grass, but so that it may serve us as gain for the Hereafter. Therefore, it is a command to draw lessons. Draw lessons; draw lessons from everything. You can draw lessons from your own life. You can also draw lessons from the actions of others. Drawing lessons from what is seen means: to reflect on its wisdom. Even if you do not understand something—merely reflecting on it and thinking "Allah the Almighty has His wisdom in it" is already beneficial. At that moment, you remember Allah the Almighty. In Allah's creation, there are many instructive things. In the past, future, and present, there is much from which one can draw lessons. أَنَّمَا خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ عَبَثٗا (23:115) "We have not created you in vain," says Allah the Almighty. (23:115) Therefore, the whole of life—both your own and that of others—is there to draw lessons, to be good, and to keep away from evil, insha'Allah. May Allah help us. May Allah help us to understand these wisdoms, insha'Allah.

Allah, the Exalted, says: اِنَّكَ لَا تَهۡدِيۡ مَنۡ اَحۡبَبۡتَ وَلٰـكِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَهۡدِيۡ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ (28:56) "You cannot guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills." Allah grants guidance to whom He wills. The Prophet (peace be upon him) says: "Guiding one person is better than the whole world and everything in it." Therefore, it is a great reward to lead someone to Allah's path. If a person is granted this grace, they should strive for nothing else. Both during the Sheikh's time and today, many people, thanks to Allah, have taken this path. Thousands, tens of thousands of people have followed the path of guidance, the path of the Prophet, the path of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, and the Naqshbandi Order. But sometimes we no longer see some of them. Our doors are open to all. We did not buy them just because they were guided. Everyone can come and go as they please. No one is obliged to anyone. This is a matter of the heart. If Allah has guided someone through you, that should suffice for you. You do not need to seek other benefits. This is a great gift from Allah, the Exalted, to you. It is a great grace when someone is guided through you and remains on this path. Unfortunately, there are those who complain and say: 'These people came to the Tariqa through me and got to know the Sheikh through me,' and then lament that especially the women no longer serve them: "Now they no longer serve me, they no longer honor me." Yes, people can show you respect and honor you, but you have not bought anyone. Allah has created every person free. No one is the servant or slave of another. If it comes from the heart, one serves for Allah's sake. Everyone must know this truth, especially the followers of the Tariqa. For the Tariqa is the essence of the Sharia. The limits of the Sharia are fine as a hair. The Sharia is sharp as a sword; one must be careful. While you are doing good, do not harm yourself, so that nothing bad happens to you. When you see these people on the right path, thank and praise Allah. Thanks be to Allah, while millions of people are astray and know neither Allah nor the Prophet, have neither religion nor faith, neither morals nor anything else. It is not right to be upset because a blessed person is not with you, even though they are following the same path. Do not cause difficulties for this person. Do not cause them sorrow! This is very important. The door is always open for those who enter the path. Thousands, tens of thousands came to Sheikh Nazim Effendi. We do not see all of them, only a small part. If most continue from the heart, we are happy; if not, may Allah also guide them. May Allah not lead anyone astray. After having guided a person to the right path, you should thank Allah. Do not let other thoughts enter your heart. Instead of what you might receive from them, Allah will grant you greater and better things. These are things to pay attention to. Especially for the followers of the Tariqa. Unfortunately, the Tariqa followers talk everywhere: 'He was like this, that one was like that.' Our Tariqa is open. Our door is open. Whoever wants to come to us is welcome. Whoever wants to go elsewhere, as long as they are on the right path, on the path of Allah and the Prophet, should go. There is no reason for sadness. Wherever their heart inclines, there they go. Whatever they do. The main thing is that they do not leave the path. That is the most important thing. May Allah keep us all firm on this path. May He not let us follow our ego, inshaAllah. May Allah, the Exalted, show us His way. May He protect us from misguidance, inshaAllah.

وَلَا يَخَافُوۡنَ لَوۡمَةَ لَاۤـئِمٍ (5:54) Allah the Exalted says in the Holy Quran that for a believer who is with Allah, the opinion of others is unimportant. What others say is of no significance to someone on Allah's path. The only important thing is to be on Allah's path. They do not worry about "whether this person will like me or that one won't." Their only concern is that Allah accepts them and is pleased with them. That is their entire goal, their drive, and their thoughts. May Allah accept us. We should not worry whether someone likes our clothing, our recitation, or our gait. Whoever is with Allah thinks of no one else but Him. The only thing one should consider is whether what one eats, drinks, and wears is in accordance with Allah's will. In Islam, there is no rule that says you have to care whether this man or that woman likes something. In Islam, you should be properly and cleanly dressed. You should keep your clothing clean and avoid impurity. After that, it's simple—your food should also be pure. There should be no impurity, no dirt. These people who do not like Islam and Muslims have both dirty clothing and impure foods. For example, alcohol is impure. If alcohol touches your clothing, you must wash it to cleanse it. You must wash your clothing so that the impurity disappears. The same applies to food. Now these unreasonable non-Muslims get upset: "There are people who eat dogs. How can anyone eat dog meat?" "You eat pork, which is even more impure than that." What kind of logic is that? There is no logic there. A person who does not believe in Allah has no logic. Nothing about them is right or proper. If you try to please them, they will make a monkey out of you. If you conform to their whims, you will be exposed to every kind of ridicule; they will laugh at you. Then you will truly become a laughingstock. A person on Allah's path achieves the greatest gain by being as Allah wants them to be. All their affairs will be good. They will walk on Allah's path. If you are constantly looking at whom you please and whom you don't, Allah will not look at you graciously and will not be pleased with you. May Allah's pleasure be upon all of us. It brings nothing to constantly worry: "He said this, she said that." On the contrary, if there are people who do not like us—that is, do not like Islam—and we do what they do not like, then we are happy about it. If we gain through good deeds that they do not like, then let them not like it. We do the good because it is good. If they like it, fine; if not, it is not important either.

Allah the Exalted speaks to us in the Holy Quran. وَمَنۡ اَحۡسَنُ دِيۡنًا مِّمَّنۡ اَسۡلَمَ وَجۡهَهٗ لِلّٰهِ وَهُوَ مُحۡسِنٌ وَّاتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ حَنِيۡفًا​ (4:125) The best people are those who follow the faith of Abraham and profess allegiance to the community of Abraham—the community of Islam. His religion is Islam. Whoever follows this path belongs to the best people before Allah. To be a good person in the eyes of Allah—that is the task of every human being. For everything we have comes from Allah, and we are indebted to Him. We all belong to Allah. We are His property. He is our Lord. Allah is the Exalted. He gives us our livelihood, grants us health, and—most importantly—our faith. We must be grateful to Him and follow His path. He is the one who saves, who gives, and who takes. He is Allah, the Exalted. Therefore, Allah says: "Blessed is he who follows this path." That is the truly good person. Allah the Exalted shows us the right path. He says: "This is the right path you should follow." There is no better path than this. Do not stray onto other paths. Do not follow other people. Do not follow those who have strayed from the path—you would perish. Whoever claims "We have saved you, we have helped you" and in doing so leads you away from the right path, benefits neither you nor himself. Therefore, it is right to stay on Allah's path. People speak of the "life decision." This is the true life decision. To remain steadfast on this path and to go into the hereafter upon it. That is the best, the most beautiful, and the wisest decision. Allah the Exalted says: وَاتَّخَذَ اللّٰهُ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ خَلِيۡلًا (4:125) He took Abraham as His beloved. Abraham was among the Prophets of special determination, the great Prophets. There were 124,000 Prophets. Among them are the Prophets of special rank—the 'Ulul Azm. They have the highest ranks. Abraham is also considered an ancestor of our Prophet. Of course, the Prophethood of our Prophet stands in first place, and as the last Prophet, he completed Islam for humanity until the Day of Judgment. Islam is not a difficult religion. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) says: "Do not overburden yourselves; Allah accepts what you are able to accomplish." Also do not say when you do more that it is enough! Therefore, our Prophet says: "Do not overburden yourselves." Do not load too much upon yourselves. Fulfill the commandments according to your abilities. Of course, do not neglect the obligations. Do not neglect them. Do not neglect the prayer, fasting, and other obligations, but you do not have to force yourselves to do more. For sometimes one sees people who return from bad ways, from ways that Allah does not love. They say: "I will do this and that" and start full of zeal. Then they take on too much. They cannot sustain it. Therefore, small but consistent deeds are the most beloved to Allah. Better to do a little, but consistently, without interruption. Therefore, Islam is an easy religion, not a difficult one. Whoever says it is difficult is lying. May Allah protect us from that.

The term "human" in Arabic comes from the word "forget." It comes from the word "Nisyan," which means "forget." Therefore, the human being is by nature a forgetful creature. This is one of his fundamental characteristics. Forgetfulness is a natural part of being human. Everything has its deeper meaning. Allah, the Exalted, is the Creator of everything. He alone knows the true wisdom and benefit of all things. If humans could not forget anything, life would be unbearable. Whether pain, memories, or other experiences—there is divine wisdom in everything. There is also deep wisdom in forgetting. For if humans remembered everything, they would not depend on anyone. Allah, the Exalted, takes the painful memories from the heart and mind of man. Over time, sorrows and difficulties fade, and life goes on. Therefore, forgetfulness is normal, even if we sometimes find it difficult to forget certain things. For example, if one has memorized the Qur'an, one must recite it regularly to avoid forgetting it. One must practice to retain what has been learned. If you wish to remember something forgotten, speak blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him). With Allah's permission, it will come back to you. Whether in learning or other matters—forgetting makes us sad. Forgetfulness is a natural attribute that Allah has given to humans. Since it comes from Allah, we must accept it. Important things we should either repeat regularly or write down. Tasks, appointments, and especially important duties must not be forgotten. The foundations of Islam—the prayer and fasting—must not be forgotten. The pilgrimage and the obligation of almsgiving should be remembered and fulfilled. These important things should be noted and carefully observed. May Allah help us in this and protect us. May we not forget our knowledge, especially the Holy Qur'an and the words of the Prophet, and depart this world with a clear mind. There is also pathological forgetfulness, which is much worse. New illnesses have emerged where people can no longer recognize anyone. May Allah protect us all from that, insha'Allah.

Allah the Almighty says: وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا فَنَقَّبُواْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ هَلۡ مِن مَّحِيصٍ (50:36) As written in the Holy Quran, many generations came before these people. They were all stronger, mightier, and wiser than these. They all passed away, most were destroyed. Only those who were on Allah's path were not destroyed. People walk around saying "This belongs to me" about this world. Yet it is nothing. Possessions, the world, everything and the hereafter belong to Allah. Everything was created so that people would learn from it. Whoever learns from it will be saved. Whoever is on Allah's path will be saved. Others consider themselves special and talk empty words like "We are like this, we are better, we are stronger." Because power, possessions and property are temporary, everything has an end. Therefore, one must pay attention to the lasting things. Not to worldly pleasures and joys; yes, one should live, but during life one must not forget Allah. Allah has allowed you the pure and good things. You can enjoy what is permissible and good. If you thank Allah, everything will be beneficial to you. But if you don't give thanks and instead boast and show off, then Allah will not give you any benefit. Then you will perish like the other destroyed nations. Whoever opposes Allah is without reason. Rebelling against Allah is not a reasonable thing. You can rebel against your equals, but acting this way against Allah is not good. Your strength is not even enough for one person. Allah is the Creator of the universe, how can you behave like this against Him? With what audacity, with what unreasonableness does man show such disrespect towards Him? And yet he still considers himself special. He wants to be praised. Allah has given us everything - Thanks be to Allah! He has given all blessings to the Muslims. Satan wants to take these away from Muslims. Unfortunately, many fall for Satan's tricks. They are humiliated both in this world and have no benefit from it. Everything they have is lost. Their health, their honor, their reputation is lost. Nothing remains. Like a rag - even a rag is better - they perish in this world. Therefore, do not leave Allah's path, take an example. For thousands of years this world has seen many people who were stronger, healthier, more beautiful and smarter than you; none of them remained. For thousands of years this world became a grave for all of them. It will become a grave for us too. May it be a blessed grave, insha'Allah. May the hereafter belong to us. This is how the world is, it is not lasting. The world is a cemetery. Nothing else. May Allah protect us from the evil and harm of Satan. Satan has a firm grip on people these days. They are proud when they do evil and commit sins. They boast about shameful things and the greatest disgraces and walk around shamelessly. May Allah protect us from their evil. May Allah give them reason and wisdom. If not, they will have to account before Allah anyway.

أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوۡلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ (10:62) The Awliya, the friends of Allah, are Allah's beloved servants. They know no fear and no sorrow. They are with Allah, the Almighty and Exalted. Whoever is with Allah has no worries. One must get to know Allah, the Almighty and Exalted. How do we get to know Him? Allah, who created us and brought us forth from nothingness, introduces Himself to us and allows us, after this favor, to walk on His path—that is the greatest grace. For humanity, there can be nothing more valuable. This is the most valuable thing of all. Whoever is on His path, with Him and with those who love Him, attains all goodness. He attains all goodness. For thousands, millions of people have come and gone in this world. You too have come and will go. With whom will you be together? A person should be together with the saints of Allah and His beloved servants. Allah the Exalted says that they know no sorrow and no fear. You come here and visit Mawlana Sheikh Nazim. One can also visit him from afar. If you pray for him and all the friends of Allah, all the prophets and companions, you are connected with them. It is as if you are visiting them. The graves of some are known. There are many Awliya whose graves are unknown. But if you at least mention them in your prayers and remember them, you are connected with these beloved servants of Allah and their blessing rests upon you. Therefore, this is the best for humanity. Possessions, property, house, and worldly things are of no use to a person if they do not serve the hereafter. But if they are for the hereafter, you attain all goodness. You attain all beauty. One must recognize the value of the gift of being allowed to be together with the beloved of Allah. One must be grateful to Allah. May He increase it. Because Allah lets us recognize His friends and enables us to be with them, their blessing rests upon us. Allah honors those who honor His saints. Whoever recognizes this goodness and beauty is a happy person. However, this person then has many enemies. When you take a good path or visit a friend of Allah, a thousand devils stand in your way. "What do you need that for? Why are you going? Why are you doing that?" even some Muslims say. The objections of non-Muslims are countless anyway. Whoever walks this path will be protected. Listen to no one. Let no one turn you away from your path. This path is the beautiful path; this path is the right path. There are not only a thousand but a hundred thousand devils in the world. One slips off quickly, and even if one does not go to hell, one moves away from the right path. One moves away from the friends of Allah, from Allah's beloved servants. To be with them means salvation. To be with them means rescue and goodness. To be with them in the hereafter is the greatest wish for humans, for the believers. May Allah not separate us from them. May we always receive their blessing, insha'Allah.

Islam is based on two foundations. One is the Qur'an, the other is the Sunnah. The Sunnah comprises the actions and beautiful words of our Prophet (peace be upon him), which we must follow. Allah protects the holy Qur'an. إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ (15:9) "We have sent down the Reminder, the Qur'an." "And We will surely preserve it." They cannot change it. They cannot do with it as they please. As for the Hadiths—the narrations, words, and Sunnah of our Prophet (peace be upon him)—some people later inserted fabricated Hadiths. They added them according to their own whims. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When you hear these Hadiths and they do not accord with your heart and understanding, then they are not my words, not my Sunnah." "Do not accept them," says our Prophet (peace be upon him). After our Prophet (peace be upon him), Hadith scholars came. They sorted the Hadiths, purified them, and corrected many things. Nevertheless, sometimes there are things that are not compatible with reason and logic. These are used by the group that calls themselves Salafists. One of these false claims is—may Allah protect us from this—that the venerable parents of our Prophet (peace be upon him) are said to have been unbelievers. How can such a thing be possible? They present this false claim as a Hadith. A completely false claim, which is not a Hadith. That must have been inserted there either by Jews or the idolaters of that time. That is unacceptable. The lineage of our Prophet (peace be upon him) comes from a pure line of faith and light, descending from all the Prophets. Through the lineage of the Prophet (peace be upon him) flows the divine light. This light passes from grandfather to father, from father to mother; where this light is, there can be no unbelief. Unbelief exists only where there is no light. This light encompasses everything. The blessed parents of the Prophet are in the highest places of Paradise. They classify Hadiths according to their own whims and claim: 'This one is weak, that one is strong.' Exactly this kind of Hadiths we are talking about were later invented and inserted. This statement has nothing to do with the authentic Hadiths. This Hadith is neither compatible with reason nor with the heart. When Mawlana Sheikh Nazim heard of such falsifications, he became very angry. Once he came from Damascus. An Imam had quoted this false Hadith during the Friday sermon. Mawlana Sheikh Nazim blazed with rage like fire. He was beside himself. What an absurdity to express such a thing! "Had it not been the Friday prayer, I would have left the mosque." That is how angry he was. The rank of the blessed parents of the Prophet is at the highest level. People who carry even a spark of our Prophet (peace be upon him) within themselves are protected by this blessed light from everything and reach the highest ranks. Therefore, we must respect them and know that their rank is exalted. Especially the Muslims who follow the Tariqah must understand this. This is not an exaggeration. This is the truth. One must speak the truth. Because sometimes people say: "The parents of the Prophet were, Allah forbid, not Muslims." Allah forbid, such a thing does not exist. This light that they carry within themselves makes their faith a thousand times greater than yours and mine.

وَٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ لِلطَّيِّبِينَ وَٱلطَّيِّبُونَ لِلطَّيِّبَٰتِۚ (24:26). Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, says: "Good men are destined for good women." "And the corrupt are destined for the corrupt," so says Allah, the Exalted. Good people are a blessing for the world and humanity. It is a great mercy that they are among us and guide us. Those who follow them, tread their path, and come together with them, gain a great deal. Even if one does not meet them personally—there were and are thousands of such righteous, pure people. All saints and prophets belong to the "Tayyibun," the pure and good ones. And "Tayyibat" refers to the righteous women: Those who are on Allah's path, serve people, help their husbands, and make the way easier and show it to others, also belong to them. These people are rare. Their way is the way of light. People strive for them, and they strive towards people. Only a few among us have seen Haci Anne. Her service is of great importance. This service has certainly reached everyone. And this service will continue to have an effect until the Day of Judgment. She was the helper of Sheikh Baba, Sheikh Efendi. She stood in his service. She served humanity. She left this world twenty years ago. She would not have wanted to see the conditions of these times. Therefore, it was very blessed for her. That she left us twenty years ago was a mercy—her compassion was so great that she could not have endured these times. She could not have borne this suffering. Since she belonged to the Forty, they took her quickly to themselves. Her help continues to reach us even now from the hereafter. One day before her death, she had a severe illness. It was actually not very bad, more like a strong flu. In the evening, one of our brothers urged: "Come, let's speak with Haci Anne." We thought: "She is ill, we should not disturb her," but then we did it anyway. That morning after the Fajr prayer, while we rested, there was a cry: "Haci Anne has left us." Soon after, our brother Metin came and said: "Haci Anne has passed away." But before she went to the hereafter, she swept through Akbaba like a storm, left without looking back. May Allah raise her ranks.

وَيَٰقَوۡمِ مَا لِيٓ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ (40:41) In the venerable Quran, Moses speaks to his people: "I call you to salvation." "I call you to the right path." "But you do not accept this." "Instead, you call me to ruin." "You call me to Hell," he says. Since the time of Moses until today, it has mostly remained so. Prophets, saints, and scholars always call people to salvation. But people do not want that. "Come along our way too," they say. "Perish with us," thus they call people to Hell. They invite to blasphemy and disbelief. While some want good for people... Others want the worst. A reasonable person naturally chooses the good path. He wants to be with the good ones. Not with the evildoers—on the contrary, he wants to keep away from them. Before and after the time of our Prophet, the person who follows his desires has always distanced himself from the truth and served evil. Wherever there is evil, he is there. And in the end, he perishes. And not alone, but he drags others with him. "Let us go to Hell together," he says. Some even make such absurd jokes: "In Hell, there are many people, celebrities, and all sorts of folks." The end of this joke is not funny at all; it is a very bad joke. May Allah give guidance to all, celebrities as well as ordinary people. May all be on Allah's path. May they be on the path of salvation and find deliverance.
